Nico Terol lines up alongside Nieto at Caja Madrid Derbi Racing

Young Spaniard Nicolás Terol will be team-mate to Pablo Nieto in the Caja Madrid Derbi Racing Team for the 2005 125cc World Championship. Nico Terol, who took part in the ‘Torneo Cuna de Campeones', a series in which he competed in all categories and gained two overall second positions, also contested the 2004 125cc Spanish Championship and finished fourth, climbing the podium at the second round held at the Jarama circuit.

Terol, who will fasten the number ‘18' to his fairing, was thrilled to be chosen by Derbi for the Grand Prix next season. "The dream of every rider is to go up against the best with the best material at your disposal, this is something I will be able to fulfil in 2005," commented the sixteen year old.

"Now I want to match the confidence shown in me by Derbi with determination and effort. In return they have asked me to learn, not to hurry, and that they are looking towards the long-term. Derbi has been associated with some of the greats of Spanish motorcycle racing so I have a lot of eyes on me and standards to live up to," he added.

Giampiero Sacchi, General Manager of Caja Madrid Derbi Racing Team remarked: "I am fully confident in the team we have constructed. Pablo brings talent, experience and enthusiasm, and Nico youth, development and dreams. We are sure that we will be able to take some great results during 2005."
