Jenkner looking forward to quarter-litre debut

After spending seven seasons in the 125 World Championship, Steve Jenkner decided to move up to the 250cc class with the Aprilia Rauch Bravo team. The 28 year-old German says is looking forward to his first testing session with his new machinery and the first step of this new challenge.

"We haven't done any tests so far, so I can't say that I expect to fight for the best rookie or the best privateer title," admitted Jenkner. "Racing in the 250 class will be a new challenge, but until I know how the bike feels, I can't set any targets."

"I will ride a used bike: it will be the one Franco Battaini had last year, fitted with the 2005 kit," he explained. "I will have the opportunity to ride it for the first time in early February, at Valencia. We would also like to do another testing session later at Jerez, before the Official Tests in March."

At the moment, Jenkner spends time with his family in Germany, but he has already picked up training. "As the 250 will be more demanding than the 125, I have to train a bit more to build up the necessary strength, but basically, my training regime is the same as it was for the 125."
