Checa looks ahead to Sepang return

Carlos Checa says he is already looking forward to the next set of MotoGP tests at Sepang after only managing to complete ten laps over the whole three-day session earlier this week through illness.

Checa had to follow his team-mate Loris Capirossi's progress from the sidelines and, after watching the Italian set the fastest lap time on each of the three days, can't wait to get back on the Desmosedici GP5.

"The three days of testing work in Sepang weren't too positive for me, although it has nothing to do with my performance on the track or that of my Ducati," explained Checa. "On the first day a few of the stitches on my hand came loose and I was hardly able to complete ten laps.

"On the second day I've had a fever and dizzy spells and I couldn't test at all and I had intended to get back out on the track again on the final day, but my headache was still giving me problems and sadly I had to stay in the hotel.

"Luckily, Loris demonstrated with his hard work and his lap times that the team is doing a good job and the Desmosedici GP5 is competitive on the Bridgestone tyres.

"We've still got a long way to go before the start of the season at Jerez but the situation is good. Personally, I just hope that the next tests at Sepang on the 11th February are more positive and that I don't have any problems to ride at 100% and make up for the lost time in Malaysia."
