Tamada sneaks a look at Konica Minolta Honda colours

Makoto Tamada left Italy for Malaysia on Wednesday, but not before sneaking a look at the newly designed colour scheme of his Konica Minolta Honda at the team's new workshop in Verona.

The Japanese rider, who has recently moved into a new apartment in what he fondly refers to as ‘the city of Romeo and Juliet', will test the 2005 version Honda RC211V at Sepang and Phillip Island before bringing it back to Europe for a new paint job, which will be unveiled at the official tests at Barcelona next month.

"I have seen the new bike for the first time and I truly liked it," said Tamada. "This year we also have a completely new team. This is really stimulating to me and to be honest I can't wait to go to Malaysia to try my new bike for the first time.

"My main objective during the test at Sepang will be to familiarise myself with the technical changes from last season. I will need some time, but I'm also more than sure that we'll be at our best when the season starts on April 10th at Jerez."

Tamada was joined at the Verona workshop by Japan Italy Racing President Tetsuo Iida, who shares his compatriot's affection for the city. "I'm glad to have the logistical headquarters here in Verona, first of all because it is a practical location and secondly because this is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen.

"In fact I came here fifteen years ago and the beauty of this city amazed me. My first impression about the workshop has been really positive. Everything is brand new here and from my point of view this is one of the best workshops of all the unofficial teams.

"Today we have also seen the new bike and all the staff members seemed really satisfied about it. Right now we all are really excited about this new adventure and hopefully, thanks to Tamada's performances, the excitement we'll remain with us until the end of the season.

"Even if this is a new project, we will try to end the season at the top of the World Championship, and one of the main characteristics that will bring us there will be the strength of the combination between the Japanese and the Italian spirit."
