Stoner and Locatelli reflect on positive test

Casey Stoner returned to Australia on Wednesday in optimistic mood after another positive test alongside Roberto Locatelli at team Carrera LCR. The Australian youngster consistently challenged Sebastián Porto at the top of the time sheets and ended the day third fastest with a lap of 1'36.144,

"I am very happy," said Stoner. "Yesterday the bad weather and the track conditions didn't give me the chance to do a good job but today was definitely better. Like at Jerez in January the result is very positive and my feeling with the 250 is rising day by day.

"I'm going back to Australia for a few weeks now but I'm looking forward to coming back here and riding the fully equipped 2005 bike at Barcelona. It's hard work doing all this travelling for the tests but it has to be done because it's going to be a competitive class this season."

Locatelli spent the day working on machine settings and ended up with a time of 1'37.035, eighth fastest overall. "Yesterday was very cold and the track conditions were rather unsettled so we lapped with the same settings as at Jerez in similar conditions in January," explained the veteran at the end of the session.

"Today, thanks to the good weather conditions, we made a step forward with the suspension. I worked on finding the right setting for the front and achieved very positive results."

Chief Engineer Pietro Caprara was also pleased with the riders' progress. "We worked on the engine set up with Casey whilst Roberto centred his efforts on the suspension settings, testing a new fork," he said. "Both riders did a positive job, lapping constantly with a good pace on different tyres."
