De Puniet settles in well

Last week, several 250 teams were testing at the Ricardo Tormo track near Valencia and Repsol Aspar new signing Randy de Puniet was able to continue his adaptation to his new team.

« During the first tests at Jerez, I met my new team and had to get used to it. Now I know them better and I was able to start working at the last tests, » said the Frenchman, who posted the fourth best time, 0.4s adrift from team-mate Sebastian Porto, the fastest rider of the test.

« I tried a new bike, but it didn't prove satisfying so we won't use it this year. I didn't have enough time to try Sebastian's bike, but I will have the new frame next week at Catalunya. »

« I'm pretty happy after this test, because I was more confident and that's important when you're getting ready for a new season. On Thursday afternoon, I was the fastest until everybody switched to soft tyres, so that was encouraging. »

« The only problem was a silly crash just 15 minutes before the end of the session, » he added. « I was pushing on my run with the soft tyres, but I made a mistake and crashed. Nothing too serious, but I couldn't improve my best time. »

« I keep an eye on the performances of the other riders of course, but the lap times are not always that significant. For example, Lorenzo posted a good time, but he really improved when he switched to soft tyres and followed Porto. There will some new riders who will be quick, but we'll have to wait and see how they can perform in a race. »

« I know that the competition will be tougher this year, but I'll do my best to be ready for the first Grand Prix. My feeling with the team is improving all the time and we will work hard to get the bike at the top of its game. »
