MotoGP could return to Misano in 2006

The MotoGP World Championship could return to Misano in 2006 following a meeting between Paride Andreoli, San Marino Secretary of State for Tourism and Sport, and Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, on Wednesday.

The subject up for discussion was the possibility of a "San Marino and Riviera of Rimini Grand Prix" to be held at the Santamonica circuit in Misano, host of the Grand Prix of Nations in 1982, 1984, 1989 and 1990, as well as the San Marino Grand Prix from 1985 to 1987 and the Italian Grand Prix in 1991 and 1993.

Also present at the meeting were Massimo Pironi, Tourism and Sport Secretary for Rimini, Amedeo Michelloti, President of the San Marino Motorcycling Federation, Mariano Spigarelli and Umberto Trevi, President and CEO of the circuit.

"I appreciate the opportunity given to me by the Republic of San Marino and the Riviera of Rimini to continue ongoing discussions with Secretary Paride Andreoli," commented Mr Ezpeleta. "We will be working together to create the appropriate conditions to make this event a reality."

"There's been talk of a "San Marino and Riviera of Rimini Grand Prix" for some time," added Mr Andreoli. "Thanks to this meeting and to the indications given to us by Mr Ezpeleta we can look to the future with optimism. We are all willing to continue our collaboration which has begun here today."
