Matteoni Racing presents 2005 line-up

The official presentation of the Matteoni Racing team took place last night at the Verdi theatre of Casena, Italia. The team managed by Massimo Matteoni will enter both 250 and 125 classes this year: Mirko Giansanti moves up to the quarter litre class with a kitted Aprilia, while 17 year-old Raffaele de Rosa will make his 125 debut on a factory Aprilia.

"This year is very important for me as it will be my debut in the 250 after eight seasons in the 125 class," said Giansanti, who clinched is best ever overall result back in 1998 by finishing sixth. "I know Massimo pretty well, it's my fifth year with his team and I know they will do everything to give me a competitive bike."

De Rosa thanked his new team manager for giving him the opportunity to make his World Championship debut. "I owe much to Massimo, who gives me the chance to compete in a full Championship – it's now my turn to act and I'll give my best every time I get on the track," said the Naples-born rider.

Team manager Massimo Matteoni added: "I know Mirko very well as we have been working together for a while. On the other hand, Raffaele is very young and he has to write his own story as a rider."
