Fantic Motor launches the R250

The Scuderia Fantic Motor unveiled its first Grand Prix machine yesterday at the Castle Brando of Cison di Val Marino, near Treviso. Joining the ranks of the 250 World Championship this year, the recently revived Fantic Motor factory will line up former 125 World Champion Arnaud Vincent alongside Italian rookie Gabriele Ferro.

The project is led by Franco Moro, a revered technician who previously worked for Aprilia with top riders such as Max Biaggi, Tetsuya Harada and Loris Capirossi. For the debut season of the new Italian team, he hopes to bring the R250 to a competitive level.

"Over the past two years, we have seen the 250cc class becoming more and more professional," commented Moro. "You have to be courageous to get involved in this category, but I like to undertake challenges, and with my team and the support of CRP Technology, I am sure we can achieve good results."

Arnaud Vincent, 125 World Champion in 2002, is set for his second season in the quarter litre class. The Frenchman said: "Joining such a team is very motivating, we have set high goals. We are all working in the same direction: to find the solutions which will allow us to emerge."

Gabriele Ferro, a newcomer on the Grand Prix scene, added : "I can't wait to get on the bike. I think this is an extraordinary opportunity to take part in the World Championship – it's a dream coming true !"

The Fantic Motor R250 will make its track debut next week in Barcelona, at the Catalunya Official Tests.
