Porto: "We are ready for a new challenge"

Sebastian Porto made an appearance on Wednesday at an official presentation organized by Spanish oil giant Repsol YPF, who has been backing him for the past three seasons. Held at the Alvear Palace Hotel, in Buenos Aires, the event was also attended by Argentina vice-president Daniel Scioli and Repsol YPF executive manager for Argentina, Enrique Locutura.

Porto talked about the pre-season work done so far and assured he will go for the title again.

"A new challenge lies ahead, but we got ourselves prepared. The pre-season testing went well. We worked on a new chassis which should be better on various tracks," said the Aprilia Aspar team rider.

"Moreover, Aprilia sent us mechanics and dedicated technicians to do a better job in the garage. Now we can concentrate on our goal, the 250cc Championship."

"It's good to see young riders moving up from the 125cc class, I'm sure they will add some spice to the action! The competition will be very tough in the 250cc class this year," added Porto.

Argentine's vice-president Daniel Scioli declared: "It's very important that a company like Repsol YPF backs a rider from Argentina in the World Championship. This is what deserves Porto after displaying such tenacity and talent over the years and for having clinched the runner-up title."

Enrique Locutura concluded: "having a rider like Sebastián under our colours make us, at Repsol YPF, very proud, and even more when he climbs on the podium. That's why we renewed our partnership with the one who gave us so much satisfaction last year."
