KTM postpones 250cc debut

The new quarter litre KTM won't make its track debut at Catalunya this week as previously planned, as the Austrian team is still working on the bike. Supervising the 125 Red Bull KTM team at the first Official Test of the season, technical director Harald Bartol explained they could even sit out the first races of the 250 World Championship.

"We can't test this week as the bike is not ready, we still have to work on it, but the priority this year is the 125 project and we are also involved in the MotoGP class," declared Bartol.

"We won`t enter the first races of the season ; of course, we could have pushed in order to race at Jerez, but we have to be realistic, we don't want to go racing without having done some proper testing."

Anthony West, signed by KTM at the end of last season, may only start his 2005 campaign at the Grand Prix Alice de France, the fourth round of the Championship.
"Now, our target will be the race in Le Mans, but we hope to have a first test session at Jerez before that."
