The 2005 MotoGP field under the spotlight

After an intense morning of testing at Catalunya, the MotoGP riders grouped together for the traditional pre-season photoshoot, giving an opportunity for the fans and the press to discover the new look of the participants in an all-too rare communal gathering.

The main changes this year are Max Biaggi joining the Repsol Honda team and Colin Edwards now riding under the Gauloises Yamaha colours, but also Carlos Checa's switch to Ducati Marlboro. Amongst the twenty-one riders of the MotoGP field, there will be four rookies this year: Toni Elias, Roberto Rolfo, James Ellison and Franco Battaini.

This morning, Sete Gibernau was the fastest rider during the first session of the final day of the MotoGP official test. The Telefonica Movistar Honda rider clocked the best time of 1'42.999, ahead of Max Biaggi and Valentino Rossi, who showed signs of progress compared to the previous two days.

The MotoGP riders are now ready for the first competitive outing of the season, as the forthcoming 40 minutes session will form the first round of the BMW Award - Best Qualifier of the Year. A BMW 1 Series will be on offer for the fastest rider of this televised period.
