The final 250 official test started today at the Jerez circuit, in Spain. This first day of testing was dominated by Argentinean Sebastian Porto, who topped the timesheet with a best lap in 1'43.403, beating the circuit record set by the late Daijiro Kato in 2001.

Reigning World Champion Dani Pedrosa was second fastest almost 0.3s adrift, finishing the day ahead of this Telefonica Movistar Honda teammate Hiroshi Aoyama. Alex de Angelis was fourth fastest with a best lap in 1'43.831 and was followed by Australian Casey Stoner and 125 World Champion Andrea Dovizioso.

Yuki Takahashi, Jorge Lorenzo, Randy de Puniet and Roberto Locatelli completed the top 10. The 250 teams will complete their pre-season tomorrow, and Friday, the MotoGP teams will start a three-day session.
