Crivillé enjoys rally test in Spain

Former 500cc World Champion Alex Crivillé, who hung up his helmet just before the beginning of the 2002 season, might give a shot at four-wheel racing in the Spanish Rally Championship.

Earlier this week, Crivillé had a first taste of rallying sharing the cockpit of fellow Spaniard Xevi Pons, who was testing with his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII near Barcelona in preparation to the New Zealand Rally. Pons and Crivillé had several runs on the testing course and the 1999 World Champion was thrilled by the experience.

"If it goes fast? Well, I was really impressed by the N Group car, it gives the impression to be a top-end machine, but it's mostly down to the suspension and its handling," said the former rider, who also hinted at an eventual entry in the category.

"I'm sure Alex can do well in rallying, and he already as a bit of experience with four-wheel racing," commented Pons, who made the switch from two to four wheels after securing the Junior Enduro Team World Championship and the Enduro Spanish Championship.
