Biaggi optimistic before Jerez

Max Biaggi had mixed feelings towards the end of the pre-season. Having posted the best times on the first two days of the Catalunya official test, he was off the pace a week later at Jerez.

However, the Roman is determined to shake off the frustration as he explained to motogp.com, before flying from his home in Montecarlo to Jerez, where the opening round of the season will be held this weekend.

"I have a very good feeling before this first race of the season," said the Repsol Honda rider. "I had left Barcelona on a positive note, but the Jerez test didn't go that well. Two weeks have passed since then and it was only one of these odd weekends. I'm going back to this track with a lot of motivation."

"I have the same point of view, the same priorities as HRC. I believe that things can improve and lately we talked calmly about how we can manage it. We are working very closely and there's no reason to think that the technical problems we had last time cannot be solved during the two days of practice before the race."

"Moreover, I like Jerez, the atmosphere is really special there. In the past, I got some good results, with both Yamaha and Honda. I'm sure nobody forgot last year's race, which was very intense and dangerous with the wet track – and I was able to take second."

"This weekend, I'll be back to see if it will be possible to improve on this result. We worked well during the pre-season and I think we should perform well at every venue of the calendar as Honda and Michelin have done a good job. I believe in the work carried out by HRC and their technicians, I'm confident. And I'm sure that the Honda-Biaggi combination is a good one."

Regarding this weekend's race, he added: "It's always hard to make predictions... I think it will be a dry race and expect to be at the front with riders like Rossi, Gibernau, Tamada, Hayden, and maybe others. I don't underestimate anybody, we'll see what happens. Now, I'm really looking forward to next Sunday."
