Movistar unveils 2005 line-up

The 2005 Telefonica Movistar line-up was presented tonight near Jerez de la Fontera, on the eve of the first round of the MotoGP World Championship. The ceremony, hosted by hip-hop singer Dnoe, unveiled the new livery of the MotoGP and 250 Telefonica Movistar Honda teams, in wake of the title sponsor recently changing its logo.

Spearheading the Spanish telecommunications effort in the premier class, Sete Gibernau is set for his third consecutive season with the team run by Fausto Gresini. Runner-up behind Valentino Rossi the last two years, the Spaniard expects to fight again for the title and will team-up with promising Italian Marco Melandri.

"It's important for me to be here, for my sponsor. I hope to achieve this year the result we all dream of. It won't be easy, but after the work we did this winter, I think we are on the right path," declared Gibernau.

In the 250cc class, Alberto Puig retains the services of Dani Pedrosa, who will defend the number one plate, and Japanese youngster Hiroshi Aoyama.

Former 650cc MX World Championship runner-up and the only Spaniard to win an MXGP Javier Garcia Vico, and the MotoGP Academy riders also attended the presentation. All are backed by the Spanish company for the 2005 season.
