Dani Pedrosa set a new pole record this afternoon at Jerez, in the final qualifying session of the Gran Premio Marlboro de España. The Spaniard will start tomorrow from the pole position for the fifth time in his 250 career.

The World Champion finished ahead of 2004 runner-up, Sebastian Porto, who wasn't able to improve his qualifying time. 250cc returnee Casey Stoner took third ahead of Randy de Puniet.

Alex de Angelis will be in the first spot of the second row ahead of Roberto Locatelli. Andrea Dovizioso qualified in seventh for his first Grand Prix in the quarter litre class, followed by fellow rookie Jorge Lorenzo.
