Motos Solidarias kicks off the 2005 season with a great success

The Spanish branch of the MotoGP charity Riders for Health, Motos Solidarias, started its 2005 campaign on the eve of the MotoGP World Championship's opening round in Jerez.

The charity, which helps to save lives daily through the establishment and maintenance of transport networks - providing key medication to remote communities in Zimbabwe, Gambia, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo - began the fundraising proceedings by offering a select group of MotoGP enthusiasts a chance to experience first hand the build-up of this weekend's Grand Prix.

The activities offered on Thursday included the "MotoGP Experience", a run on the 4,423km track, with the riders lapping behind the official MotoGP safety car, as well as a lunch organized with the kind participation of Montecastillo catering. The participants could also attend the photo sessions of each MotoGP category held in the pit lane with all the Grand Prix riders, and meet Riders for Health patron Randy Mamola.

For this first event of the season, Motos Solidarias doubled its earnings compared to last year, raising almost €10,000.
