Kallio takes provisional pole

Red Bull KTM's Mika Kallio snatched the provisional pole position in the first qualifying practice session of the Grande Premio de Portugal. The 22 year-old from Finland, who took second in last year's Portuguese GP, demoted Italian youngster Mattia Pasini (NGS - Totti Top Sport Aprilia) from the first spot of the provisional grid with a fastest lap clocked in 1'45.957.

Kallio's team-mate Gabor Talmacsi was third fastest and with Derbi's Lukas Pesek in fourth. There are three different manufacturers on the front row of the provisional grid.

Marco Simoncelli, winner of the first round of the Championship last Sunday, heads the second row of the provisional grid. Thomas Lüthi, who posted the best time in the first practice session, ended in sixth, ahead of Hector Faubel and Fabrizio Lai.

Former 125 World Champion Manuel Poggiali and Spaniard Julian Simon completed the top 10.
