Camel Honda rider Alex Barros registered the fastest time today at Estoril in the final MotoGP practice session before the one-hour qualifying session later this afternoon.

The Brazilian rider started the practice session as yesterday's pacesetter and continued in excellent form to register a fastest lap of 1'38.571, although the lap did not improved on the fastest lap of 1'38.516 he registered yesterday. Barros has only made it on to the podium once before at Estoril, taking third last year, and appears to be determined to make another appearance this year.

Movistar Honda's Sete Gibernau remained in second, improving his best lap by 0.062. The Spaniard crashed in the early stages of the session but was able to resume later on.

Repsol Honda's Max Biaggi picked up the pace today and was third fastest. He also completed the highest number of laps in the third session, clocking a total of 28 laps.

Another reoccurrence from yesterday saw three Hondas top the timesheets, while this time Valentino Rossi was the fastest Yamaha rider with the fourth fastest time ahead of Nicky Hayden and Colin Edwards.

Aside from Gibernau´s early crash, other incidents included a Toni Elias crash and Carlos Checa going wide, but managing not to crash.

In the quarter litre class, Dani Pedrosa set the fastest time with a 1´41.356 lap ahead of Team Scot Italian Andrea Dovizioso and Argentinean Aprilia Aspar rider Sebastián Porto. In the 125, Mika Kallio was once again the fastest ahead of Thomas Luthi and Julian Simon.
