Tamada still not confirmed after medical exam

Japanese rider Makoto Tamada has undergone more medical exams to ascertain his condition after sustaining injury during last Saturday's qualifying practice at the Estoril circuit in Portugal.

Makoto attended the Yokohama Kokubu Hospital at the University of Syouma, in Japan, Yesterday where he had an X-Ray and CAT Scan.

Doctors Kawasaki and Kokaji of the orthopaedics department were able to tell the Konica Minolta Honda Team rider that no fracture had been sustained to his right hand.

The doctors did reveal, however, that the cartilage and the ligaments were inflamed, and they decided to restrict the movement of the right wrist and hand with a stretch bandage. Tamada will have to wait for the inflammation to subside before recommencing.

On Monday Makoto will meet Doctor Kawasaki, well known in the motor world after having assisted many riders, who will check the condition of his injury and determine if the rider will be able to participate in the Chinese GP.
