Nieto to mark his 100th GP in France

This weekend at the French GP in Le Mans, popular Spanish rider Pablo Nieto will make his 100th Grand Prix start, all of which have been in the 125cc class.

Nieto made his Grand Prix debut in 1998 as a wild-card rider at the Catalan GP. He joined the Grand Prix circus on a full-time basis in 1999 riding for the Derbi factory team.

After three years with Derbi he moved to the Master-Aspar squad where he also stayed for three years during which time he took his first pole position at Jerez in 2002, his first podium at Mugello in 2002 and his only GP win at Estoril in 2003.

This year Nieto returned to the track with Derbi and he is the most experienced Grand Prix rider currently competing in the 125c class. His best result of the season so far is his eighth place finish at Shanghai. He is currently in 11th place in the overall standings on 16 points.
