Barros comes back ahead of Gibernau to lead classification

Alex Barros was the fastest man this afternoon in the MotoGP second free practice session, finishing ahead of Spaniard Sete Gibernau to show that he means business this weekend after his disappointing finish two weeks ago in China.

The Brazilian posted a best lap of 1´34.171 to finish the afternoon at the top of the standings for the combined practice sessions. Both Barros and Gibernau had their best laps for the two sessions in the first half hour of the second session, before the rain came back to haunt the proceedings.

Italian Max Biaggi – who also clocked his fastest lap in the second session – is now in third place in the combined classifications ahead of American Colin Edwards, who didn't improve on his morning session.

Valentino Rossi dropped into fifth place in the combined classification after a poor 13th fastest lap this afternoon. Rossi is followed in the joint classification by Japanese rider Shinya Nakano in sixth place ahead of Italian Marco Melandri in seventh.
