Kallio takes the provisional pole at Le Mans

Mika Kallio took the 125 provisional pole this afternoon at Le mans in the first qualifying practice of the French GP, an early indication that the World Championship leader is on good form this weekend to defend his leadership.

The Finn clocked a fastest time of 1´43.693 to finish 0.312 seconds ahead of Italian rider Marco Simoncelli (Nocable.it Race) who finished second fastest ahead of this morning's fastest man Gabor Talmacsi (Red Bull KTM). Talmacsi´s finish puts two Red Bull KTMs in the provisional top three.

Spanish rider Hector Faubel (Master Aspar) finished the first qualifying session fourth fastest ahead of Czech Derbi rider Lukas Pesek (Metis Racing Team) in fifth and Thomas Luthi (Elit Grand Prix) in sixth. Spanish rider Julian Simon finished in seventh position to become the third Red Bull KTM rider to make the provisional top ten.

Italian rider Mattia Pasini – who won the last race two weeks ago in shanghai – fractured his wrist in the first day's action. He will undergo a medical tomorrow morning to ascertain whether he is fit for action.
