Biaggi sits out French test to recover

Repsol Honda rider Max Biaggi has to sit out the two-day test session taking place at le Mans on Monday and Tuesday, in order to recover from the lower back contusions and a left knee knock he suffered at the end of Sunday's warm-up session.

The Italian was able to take fifth in a hard fought race, but had to undergo a medical examination after the French round. He's now recovering, hoping to be fully for the next round of the MotoGP World Championship, his home race at Mugello on June 5th.

"I'm forced to leave Le Mans without testing the new parts that HRC brought here. Unfortunately I can't take part to the sessions scheduled after the race, because of the crash I had Sunday, during the warm-up," explained Biaggi.

"Pain is so big that I can't get on the bike, not even on its stand. Of course the pain got worse when my body cooled down, after the race. Particularly my back is covered with blood stain under the skin and it got so bigger that my pants don't fit me anymore. Also my left knee got a bad trauma that needs to be checked."

"If I think back to the crash I think I'm very lucky and I'm happy. Because when the bike threw me far up in the air I landed with all my weight on the lower part of the spine, where the leathers have no protections. I felt such a crack I thought I broke some vertebras. Now I only hope to recover in time for the Italian GP."
