Gadea talks about his first podium of the season

Spanish 125cc rider Sergio Gadea took his first podium finish of the season in the French GP at Le Mans less than two weeks ago, finishing in an impressive second position.

Starting back in tenth position, the Master Aspar rider powered past the front runners to make an excellent recovery and snatch second place from championship leader Mika Kallio, kicking-off his score tally with a healthy 20 points.

"After having a lot of problems at the beginning of the season, I was eventually able to feel the bike at Le Mans," said Gadea. We had experienced a lot of problems with the bike's brackets, it's hadn't felt good, so we changed back to the one we used last year. We also worked on the chassis. The difference in France was impressive, the bike was comfortable and I managed to roll fast all weekend.

"I didn't really think about the podium until I got into second place. It was then that saw the possibility. I felt comfortable and was pushing the bike to the maximum, I decided to take advantage of the oportunity.

Gadea is hopefull to be able to repeat the success in Italy, but he is more than aware of the challenges ahead.

"Repeating the result is going to be very difficult, but I will do everything possible. I expect to be able to continue in good form now that the bike feels good. However, I am aware that the 125 category has a lot of new riders and it is very competitive.

"This championship has the world's best riders and the level is very high. Many of the riders are very well matched. We are talking about gaps of about one second, which makes it hard to gain real distance from the others."
