Tamada battles though the pain barrier

After being out of action for several weeks due to the injury he sustained to his right hand during the second round of the World Championship at Estoril, Makoto Tamada made a satisfying comeback today at Mugello.

The Japanese ace posted the 11th fastest time of the day in 1'51.673, despite being still bothered by his lingering wrist injury.

"Hard day for me. This morning the pain in my right hand was really bad, however I made it to cover a sufficient number of laps," said Tamada.

"In the afternoon we continued the work done in the first hour of free practice and we were with the fastest straight away. The bike reacted well to my commands, but we still have to find the right set up to let my Honda RC211V give its best on the hard but beautiful track of the Grand Prix of Italy."
