Kallio retains pole position

Mika Kallio will start from the front of the 125cc grid tomorrow in the Gran Premio Alice d'Italia, having secured his third pole position of the season this afternoon at Mugello.

The Flying Finn set his fastest time on his last lap, bettering his provisional pole time by over 0.5s. His Red Bull KTM team-mate Gabor Talmacsi moved up to second in the late stages of the practice .

Third fastest was Hector Faubel, whose best race result so far this year was his second place in Portugal, clinched after a breathtaking duel with Kallio. Mattia Pasini was demoted to fourth, after failing to improve his time from the first qualifying session.

Marco Simoncelli will head the second row, ahead of le Mans' winner Thomas Lüthi. Italian wildcard Michele Conti, who has already made two appearances at the Italian GP in recent years, took a stunning seventh ahead of KTM's Julian Simon.
