Rossi's new academic status goes to his head

Valentino Rossi will don a new helmet for his home race at Mugello this weekend to show off his new academic status. Earlier this week, the Italian star was awarded the "láurea ad honorem" in communication and publicity by his hometown University in Urbino and he is keen to exhibit the accolade for the home fans.

University Rector Carlo Bo, Giovanni Bogliolo presented the Italian star with the special award in recognition of the positive influence he has set as a role model, also to commemorate his achievements as one of the best riders in recent years.

The new helmet features a cartooned Rossi in graduate outfit, holding his award; with the caption ‘Valentino dottore per davvero' (Valentino, truly doctor) on both sides. The helmet also sports the Italian flag at the back, along with the number 1 and the caption: ‘Il Laureato'.
