Ducati Marlboros Loris Capirossi set the pace in the final practice session ahead of the Gran Premio Alice dItalia, posting the fastest lap ahead of poleman Valentino Rossi and Brazilian Alex Barros.

Capirossis team-mate Carlos Checa took fourth ahead of Sete Gibernau and Max Biaggi, who suffered a minor crash with five minutes to go.

Qualified in seventh on the 250 grid, Dani Pedrosa set the fastest time in the warm-up.

Pedrosa topped the timesheets with a 0.5s gap over Casey Stoner. Sebastian Porto was third fastest ahead of Randy de Puniet and poleman Jorge Lorenzo.

In the 125 class, poleman Mika Kallio remained the fastest man on Sunday morning, continuing to pile on the pressure and make his presence felt at Mugello.

Second fastest, once again, was Kallios Red Bull KTM team-mate Gabor Talmacsi. Marco Simoncelli ( Race), Tomoyoshi Aoyama (Ajo Motorsport) and Mattia Pasini (Totti Top Sport NGS) completed the top five.
