A guided lap of the Catalunya circuit by Ruben Xaus

Ahead of his home race, the Gran Premi Gauloises de Catalunya, Rubén Xaus gives us a tour of the Montmelo circuit. The Fortuna Yamaha rider points out the most important corners of 4,7 km track, where he expects to get his best result of the season.

"In the straight, the top speed is over 330 km/h, so the braking for the first corner, which is a 90º right hander, is quite hard."

"The Renault curve is a very fast part, you have to dig deep inside the corner, before getting up very quickly to open the throttle. This part leads to a much slower section, the Repsol corner where you have to be very careful because of the lack of grip. You get through the two following corners on lower gears and you have to be really smooth before going into the Campsa corner in third."

"In the next corners, you have to stay on the inside, because you tend to widen the line when accelerating. After the Caixa, Banc de Sabadell is one of the most thrilling corners, it's really great for the crowd."

"The last two corners are pretty fast, but you get into it smoothly to build the speed up and stay on a very progressive line leading to the straight. I hope I can do as well as I described, so I can get a podium finish at home !"
