Malaguti celebrates 75th anniversary with special livery

At the occasion of the Italian Grand Prix, the Malaguti Reparto Corse unveiled a special livery commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Bologna-based factory. Italian clothing stylist Enrico Coveri teamed up with Engines Engineering's designer Massimo Cuffiani to adapt the colours of the national Italian flag to the 125 machine, nicknamed the ‘Tigritalia'.

According to the team press release, the green represents the hope of freedom, and white symbolizes the purity of ideals and red is for the blood shed to conquer the freedom during the "Risorgimento".

Riders Michele Pirro and Gioele Pellino raced in blue leathers, which was the color of the Savoia, the royal family of Italy, and was firstly used by an Italian team in 1911 during a football match played at the Arena of Milan between the Italian and the Hungarian national teams and lost by Italy 1-0. Up to that moment the football national teams played in white as the Pro Vercelli, the most popular team of those times. Despite the defeat, blue became the official color of the national Italian teams.
