>Dani Pedrosa starts from pole for the first time at his home town race in Catalunya. Pedrosa has finished in the top six in the last nineteen consecutive races since he crashed at Jerez last year. Having won at Le Mans and Mugello, Pedrosa will be aiming to score three successive wins for the first time in his Grand Prix career.

>On the previous six occasions Dani Pedrosa has started from pole in the 250cc class, he has gone on to win the race five times. If Jorge Lorenzo follows up his first ever podium finish last week at Mugello with another top three finish in Catalunya he will become the youngest ever rider to score back-to-back podium finishes in the 250cc class.

>The four teenage Honda riders, Dani Pedrosa, Andrea Dovizioso, Jorge Lorenzo and Hector Barbera are the only four riders in the 250cc class to have scored points at all of the first five races of 2005.

>Sebastian Porto's fourth place finish last year is his best result from nine GP races at the Catalunya circuit.

>Randy de Puniet has won the 250cc race at the Catalan GP for the last two years. Last year's victory was the last time he stood on the top step of the podium.
