MotoGP apprentices thrilled to be at Montmeló
As the MotoGP Academy riders were reunited this week in Spain for testing at Valencia ahead of the next round of the Spanish Championship, they enjoyed the opportunity to get a taste of MotoGP action at the Catalunya circuit.
14-year-old Bradley Smith was thrilled after his tour of the MotoGP paddock.
"The experience we've had at the circuit is amazing. We've been all round the paddock and met some of the most famous riders," said the young Briton. "I met Nicky Hayden and even sat on Sete's bike – you couldn't pay for an experience like that!"
"Life in the MotoGP Academy is great. We can ride and train in the perfect setting, so we can fulfil our dream of riding in MotoGP," he added.
The MotoGP Academy is a new project created by the MotoGP World Championship rights holders Dorna Sports to train riders from different nationalities so they can participate in MotoGP in the future. The riders' schedule includes a training programme, psychophysical development, and they are also lined up in the Spanish 125 Championship.
"It's an incredible experience, it's very exciting," commented Daniel Webb, also 14 years-old. "The academy has helped us to develop our riding skills and our fitness. It's a dream opportunity for us and it will help us to climb up the steps to the World Championship."
