Guintoli remains focussed on his target

The Equipe Grand Prix de France's leader Sylvain Guintoli managed to take eighth at Catalunya on his kitted Aprilia. A satisfying result for the French privateer, who tries hard every race weekend to mix it up with the factory riders. After the sixth round, the Frenchman shared his impression of his season so far.

"We have six Grand Prix under our belt… time seems to go by so quickly! As we already have the first third of the season behind us, it's time to see where we stand. I think it has been pretty good so far. I remember the first GP, when we set our targets for 2005: finish as the best privateer and try to beat the factory guys as often as possible!"

"We were talking about this again on Saturday evening in Barcelona. ‘Now we just need a bit of luck' Didier Langouet, my chief mechanic, told me. It's true that we suffered some small problems at the start of the season: a faulty spark plug at Jerez, a dodgy clutch in China and Jakub Smrz who sent me off the track at Mugello. However, we are here fighting with the twelve factory bikes, ahead of the other privateers. Taking eighth at Catalunya was the conclusion of a perfect weekend."

"The targets are still the same. We are building something strong, we are growing up together with the team so we can finish the season as best privateer and start to think about the future. The team does a great job to fine-tune my bike and, on my side, I have to pay back their efforts on the track. The season started well and we have to keep on working like this."
