Qatari hopeful moves into the Spanish scene

The second round of the CEV Buckler – the Spanish road racing series – to be held this weekend in Valencia will see the European debut of Mashel Mohammed Al-Naimi, who recently won the first edition of the Losail National Cup.

Al-Naimi clinched the cup last month by winning all three rounds at the Losail International Circuit, giving him the opportunity to move up to the Spanish scene to continue his riding apprenticeship.

Based on a model of the Spanish Movistar Cup, the Losail National aims to give local riders their first taste of competition; while also promoting motorsport in Qatar. The competition came about due to enthusiasm for two-wheeled racing following the inaugural Qatari GP last year.

Al-Naimi is the younger brother of Talal, who also competed in Spain last year. Al-Naimi is now set for his debut in the Supersport category, lined-up in the Luis D'Antin team.
