Lorenzo makes last minute break to take pole position

Fortuna Honda rider Jorge Lorenzo will start from the front row of the grid for the fifth consecutive race in Saturday's 250cc Gauloises TT Assen after clinching pole position this afternoon. The young Spaniard - who was operated on less than a fortnight ago after fracturing his right collarbone at Catalunya – snatched pole position from Sebastian Porto with a best lap set in 2'04.562.

Reigning World Champion Dani Pedrosa took third on the grid behind Lorenzo and Porto; while Aussie Casey Stoner posted the fourth fastest time to complete the front row.

San Marinese rider Alex de Angelis will start from fifth, ahead of Hiroshi Aoyama, Andrea Dovizioso and Hector Barbera. Aprilia Germany's Chaz Davies will start from the third row, behind Randy de Puniet, Simone Corsi and Jakub Smrz.
