Melandri, Aoyama and Kallio set the pace in wet warm-up

After two days of hot and sunny weather, the riders woke up under a cloudy sky to discover a wet track for the warm-up sessions. In the MotoGP class, Marco Melandri topped the timesheet with a fastest lap set in 2'15.483 to finish ahead of Shinya Nakano, Max Biaggi and Alex Barros. Sete Gibernau and Valentino Rossi were fifth and sixth fastest respectively.

Japanese rider Hiroshi Aoyama (Movistar Honda 250cc) was the fastest man in the quarter litre class. The Japanese rider set a fastest lap of 2'17.588 to finish ahead of Aussie Casey Stoner. Privateer Andrea Ballerini was third fastest ahead of Sebastian Porto and Alex de Angelis.

In the 125 class, pole position holder Mika Kallio was again the fastest ahead of Spanish youngsters Alvaro Bautista and Manuel Hernandez. Kallio's team-mate Gabor Talmacsi was fourth fastest, while Czech rider Lukas Pesek completed the top 5.
