Lorenzo back on the podium despite injury

Jorge Lorenzo claimed his second podium of the season in the 250cc class at the Assen circuit, despite the intense pain he was suffering from the collarbone injury he sustained at Montmelo that required surgery. The Fortuna Honda rider demonstrated his resilience and his determination to comeback.

Lorenzo made an excellent start from pole, probably the best he has made in the 250 class. He managed to hold on to first place until the final lap when a mistake at the chicane allowed Porto and Pedrosa to sneak past. In the end, Lorenzo had to settle for third, but was happy with the result, especially given his injuries.

"You have to learn from lessons in life. Obviously I'm upset because I made a mistake on the last lap," said Lorenzo, who currently holds sixth in the World Championship with 70 points. "I did not close the door on the chicane and Porto passed me when I was not expecting it. But I am happy because I took pole, made a good start and led the race until the last lap. You always have to take the positives and even more so in this case because of the speed from which I have recovered from the collarbone injury."
