Tamada gets excited about US debut

After a disappointing start to his 2005 campaign, Konica Minolta Honda rider Makoto Tamada will be hoping for a change of fortune this weekend at Laguna Seca as he makes his first outing on American soil.

The Japanese rider underwent surgery last week in Barcelona for an ‘arm-pump' problem, but he is confident and relishes the new challenge lying ahead of him.

"This will be my first time on the circuit. My colleagues who have ridden here in America have exalted this track by saying that this is one of the most fun tracks in the world," said Tamada.

"They will surely have a slight advantage over me, so I will have to follow them to learn the secrets of the circuit. At the moment I have only studied the circuit in a videogame, but who knows, maybe this will decrease their advantage."

"My physical condition is good despite the past week's medical operation. It will be hard, but thanks to the help of the Mobile Clinic I'm sure that any remaining pain will disappear as soon as I get on my RC211V. I absolutely must get back to last year's level because my objective is to improve on last year's result."
