Michael Jordan partakes in historic MotoGP weekend

Basketball legend Michael Jordan continues his love affair with MotoGP this weekend at Laguna Seca as the long-awaited US Grand Prix draws closer after an absence of more than 10 years. The American superstar – who is recognised in the US as one of the greatest sporting heroes of all time – had a first taste of MotoGP at last season's finale in Valencia, where he had the opportunity to ride a Ducati Desmosedici.

‘His Airness' was back on track today, but as a passenger of Randy Mamola on the two-seater Ducati Desmosedici. The former Chicago Bulls star also gave his support to the MotoGP American contingent, meeting up with Nicky Hayden, Colin Edwards, John Hopkins and Kenny Roberts JR to offer them a jersey bearing their name and number.

Michael Jordan will continue to keep a close eye on the MotoGP timesheets after Nicky Hayden dominated the proceedings during the free practice sessions, but he also has a strong interest in the support races. The American owns a three-rider-strong team which is entered in the AMA Supersport class, the Michael Jordan Motorsports - Suzuki team.
