A painful yet successful comeback for Elias

Two months after crashing during testing at le Mans, Fortuna Yamaha rider Toni Elias made his comeback this weekend at Laguna Seca, one of the most challenging tracks of the MotoGP calendar. Having barely recovered from a complicated wrist injury, the Spaniard produced a gritty performance to score three points with a 13th place finish.

"I'm satisfied! We were faced with a difficult weekend and we will take home 3 points, which could be crucial," said Elias. "The race was so tough. My hand was hurting so much. I don't know why, but after 4 laps it began hurting again; I think that we didn't manage to inject it properly."

"It was important to finish though, and I hung on behind Hofmann. This is a legendary track and I'm lucky to ride here, which was one of my dreams, and it's another reason to be satisfied. However, we need to improve. I want to return next year and give it all again, so I can improve on my result."
