Hayden on an ‘unreal week'

Nicky Hayden made history last weekend, winning the first Red Bull US Grand Prix of the 4-stroke era. The Repsol Honda rider secured his first win on his 38th GP appearance, and he's now looking forward to confirm his new front-runner status.

"Wow I so needed that win... It feels so good! I really hope now we broke the ice so that we can be up there every week. I know it won't be easy, but this first win was a huge step for me," commented Hayden.

"The whole week was unreal for me, it was such a dream come true. And when I stood on the podium and the fans were chanting my name, it was the greatest feeling of my life for sure! I really want to thank my fans for having faith and believing in me. Also to Honda and all my sponsors and people."

There was only one reason for disappointment for the ‘Kentucky Kid': the fact that his brothers Tommy and Roger Lee missed the opportunity to complete a triple win for the Hayden family, as his brothers rank amongst the top riders in the AMA Series.
"I know it sounds greedy but my bro Tom was leading the Superstock with only a few laps to go and came together with a lapper and Rog only got passed in the last corner of the 600 race or the Hayden boys 'bout had a Trifecta!"

"I think it was an important day for MotoGP in the US, to have a good race where most everything went right, a full house and good safe racing... so I hope MotoGP is here to stay!"
