Rossi meets the press alongside MotoGP Brits

Valentino Rossi attended a press conference yesterday afternoon in an Italian restaurant in Park Lane, London, along with the British contingent of the MotoGP circus ahead of this weekend's British Grand Prix.

Alongside the Gauloises Yamaha star, British riders Shane Byrne (Team Roberts), James Ellison (Blata-WCM) and 250cc young gun Chaz Davies (Aprilia Germany) shared their expectations for their home Grand Prix.

The reigning World Champion is excited about his ‘second home race', as he has been living in London for the past few years. The Italian admitted that Donington was one of his favourite venues in the MotoGP calendar and this week he approaches the Grand Prix with an extra incentive : he is adamant about fighting back for the top step of the podium after being beaten by American riders Nicky Hayden and Colin Edwards at Laguna Seca.

"I may have lost a bit of motivation at Laguna Seca, but now I really want to win again," said Rossi, who saw his streak of five consecutive victories end in California with Hayden's debut win.

Rossi has an exceptional record at the Derbyshire track. With the exception of 2003, when he was given a time penalty after crossing the line first, Valentino Rossi has won on each of the six other occasions he has finished at Donington; the 125cc race in 1997, the 250cc race in 1999 and in the premier-class in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004. His victory at Donington in 2000 was his first ever win in the 500cc class.
