Tamada gets back on form and ready for Donington

Having had an unfortunate start to the season with his crash during an Estoril training session, which left him out of action for most of the first half of the season, Makoto Tamada made a great come back at Laguna Seca and is now determined to finish the season in style.

The Japanese rider managed to cross the line in seventh place in California, just weeks after undergoing surgery on his damaged wrist, to take his best finish of the season so far.

"During the American GP, I didn't want to step down from my bike, said Tamada. "I was enjoying it like a child, thanks to the feeling I found with my RC211V and the Michelin tyres. Everything was going in the right direction and if I hadn't been blocked by the traffic on the first lap, I'm sure that I would have picked up many more points for me and for my Team.

Donington may not feature in Tamada's list of favourite tracks, however he firmly believes that the combination of his return to health and the settings of his bike will see him to a good result.

"Now we have to look forward and concentrate on our next appointment in the World Championships in Donington. On this track I have always had complications that have limited my performances, but I'm sure that thanks to the help of my technicians we'll find the right setting for the bike, which will allow me to remain amongst the top riders. My physical condition is now optimal and I will give my best with the knowledge that I must get a positive result to facilitate the rest of the season."
