- Mika Kallio starts from pole position for the sixth time in 2005 and for the fourth successive race. The last rider to have four successive poles in the 125cc class was Youichi Ui in 2001.

- In addition to current joint leaders Mattia Pasini and Gabor Talmacsi three other riders have topped the standings in 2005: Marco Simoncelli, Mika Kallio and Thomas Luthi.

- If Gabor Talmacsi wins he will end a record sequence of forty-six races without a rider in the 125cc class taking back-to-back races, since Arnaud Vincent won at Donington and then Sachsenring in 2002.

- Fabrizio Lai has qualified in his highest grid position since he was 4th on the grid at the opening race of the year in Jerez.

- Of the riders starting the 125cc race only Alvaro Bautista and Manuel Poggiali have previously finished on the podium at Donington.

- Manuel Poggiali and Julian Simon are the only two riders in the 125cc class to have scored points at the first seven GP events of 2005.
