Kallio stays on top to peg pole position at Donington

KTM's Mika Kallio has secured the sixth pole of his career at Donington Park, ahead of Aprilia riders Mattia Pasini and Marco Simoncelli. The ‘Flying Finn' just missed the pole position record – set last year by Andrea Dovizioso - by 0.095s.

Honda's Thomas Lüthi qualified in fourth, so three different manufacturers are represented on the front row. During the past ten years, Honda has won twice on the Derbyshire track, Aprilia six times.

The second row will be headed by Fabrizio Lai, who was the fastest in the last practice session. KTM's Hungarian ace Gabor Talmacsi – current joint-leader with Pasini - was seventh fastest behind Julian Simon. Japanese rookie Tomoyoshi Koyama took eighth and French youngsters Mike di Meglio and Alexis Masbou completed the top 10.
