Pedrosa snatches pole position from Lorenzo

250cc World Champion Dani Pedrosa has won the pole position for tomorrow's British GP, demoting Jorge Lorenzo to second place on the grid in the final qualifying session at Donington Park. The Movistar Honda rider clocked his best lap in 1'31.834, before crashing out on his last lap.

After the session, the Spaniard was angry, explaining that he went down because of a slower rider. His rival Lorenzo, who finished just 0.180s adrift, was confident about his chances of a win in tomorrow's race, even although he missed out on the coveted grid position.

San Marinese Alex de Angelis secured third on the grid, his best qualifying result so far this year, ahead of Andrea Dovizioso, who won last year's 125 race on his way to the title.

The second row of the grid will be formed by Sebastian Porto, who crashed with only a few minutes to go, followed by Randy de Puniet, Hector Barbera and Hiroshi Aoyama. Yuki Takahashi took ninth ahead of Casey Stoner, who suffered a mechanical failure during the session.
