Rossi and Yamaha keep raising through all-time records

Valentino Rossi keeps raising amongst the World Championship Legends. Rossi's victory in last weekend's betandwin.com British Grand Prix at Donington Parks was the 75th time he has stood on the top step of the podium in Grand Prix racing. This is just one less Grand Prix victory that nine times World Champion Mike Hailwood achieved during his racing career in the 1960's.

Only two riders have scored more wins than Hailwood and Rossi in 56 years of Grand Prix racing: Giacomo Agostini (122 wins, in 500cc and 350cc) and Angel Nieto (90 wins, in 125cc and 80/50cc). Apart from Rossi, Max Biaggi is the only other active rider in the top 10 of all-time Grand Prix winners, with 42 wins.

Yamaha is also reaching new heights with the Rossi era. Following the recent success in the premier-class with the Italian scoring 16 victories since he joined Yamaha at the start of last year, the tuning fork brand now have just one premier-class victory less than the 139 MV-Agusta achieved in the years from 1952 to 1976. The most successful manufacturer in the premier class is Honda with 194 wins.
