Pedrosa determined to shine before the summer break

250 Championship leader Dani Pedrosa is confident ahead of the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland at Sachsenring, a track where he scored one of his seven wins last season on his way to the title.

After a lacklustre weekend at a rain-soaked Donington, Pedrosa looks forward to the last race before the summer break. "Last year, I had a pretty good race at Sachsenring, I started from fifth, had a great pace and won the race with a five-second gap," said Pedrosa.

"In 2004, things also went well in England, but last weekend the poor weather meant I couldn't do better than fourth," he recalled. "I hope the weather will be on our side this time! I get more and more confident every time I ride in the wet, but I have to admit that I prefer to race on a dry track."

"I have a comfortable lead now, but we have to keep working as this year the competition is stronger than ever," added Pedrosa, who currently leads the Championship ahead of Casey Stoner by 34 points.

The Spaniard Pedrosa has dominated the 250cc class since the beginning of 2004 and his debut in the class. In the twenty-four races he has started he has finished in the top six on twenty-three occasions; the exception being the second race of last year at Jerez when he crashed in the wet conditions.

Consequently he is now on a run of twenty-two consecutive top six finishes which has only been bettered by just two riders in the 57-year history of Grand Prix racing, Luca Cadalora (34) and Sito Pons (26).
